Celebrating victory

Trinidad and Tobago turned into a huge party last night, after the national football team’s victory over Bahrain in the qualifying match that sends us to the World Cup. The T&T newspapers today are full of coverage of the celebrations (Express, Guardian), and various bloggers also provide more idiosyncratic coverage: Taran Rampersad in south Trinidad (lots of links); Tuluum, who joined in the festivities around Port of Spain (and posts some photographs); and yours truly, in my personal blog.

Outside T&T, Ryan Naraine of caribbeancricket.com calls it “a win for the Caribbean”, and Titilayo in Barbados is thrilled, even though she’s not a football fan.

Meanwhile, Georgia is editing a special episode of Caribbean Free Radio with material she recorded last night in the St James and Woodbrook districts of west Port of Spain.

And today is a special public holiday here in T&T!
